Cookie policy.
This policy explains cookies and similar browser storage on the It’s Only Logical website, run by Dara Fitzgerald and Matthew Hooson. Our privacy notice explains how we use the information.
You choose what runs
Optional analytics and session replay are off until you allow them. The banner offers “Reject optional”, “Allow all” and “Choose settings”. Settings let you allow analytics without replay. Replay requires analytics, with its own separate choice. You can at any time.
Rejecting optional collection leaves the website and episodes available. Turning off analytics stops both analytics and replay and removes this site’s PostHog identifiers from your browser. Turning off replay alone stops recording while analytics continues. Choices apply to the browser and website address where you save them. A different browser, device or address may need its own choice.
Storage used on this website
| Storage | Purpose and when used | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
onlylogical_consent_v1Local storage | Necessary storage that remembers the analytics and replay choices you save. | Valid for 180 days. On a later visit after expiry, the site clears the choice and asks again. Local storage does not expire automatically. |
ph_onlylogical and related entriesFirst-party cookie and local storage | Optional PostHog browser identifiers and settings, used after you allow analytics. | Cookie: up to 180 days from its last refresh. Local storage stays until removed when you withdraw analytics or return with expired consent, or when you clear browser storage. |
ph_onlylogical_*Session storage | Optional PostHog session and tab state after analytics is allowed. | Normally the tab’s session; removed on withdrawal. Browser session restoration can preserve session storage. |
ph_replay_pending_buffer_*Session storage | Temporary replay data awaiting transmission, only after analytics and replay are allowed. | Temporary during the browser session; removed when replay or analytics is withdrawn. |
The exact PostHog key suffixes can vary with its session and project settings. We do not use advertising cookies or sell analytics data.
What analytics and replay do
Analytics measures visits and referral campaigns, approximate location, episode and platform clicks, notes, embedded playback, section engagement and scrolling. It also provides heatmaps, rage/dead click signals, technical errors and loading-performance measurements. Session replay reconstructs interactions with the public page. It does not include other websites or the contents of YouTube’s embedded player. There are no enquiry or registration forms on the current site; any input values are masked by default. Network timings can help identify slow or failed requests, with URL query strings removed. Console logs and network request or response bodies are not recorded.
PostHog receives optional collection through its EU Cloud service. For purposes, retention and your rights, see our privacy notice and PostHog’s privacy information.
YouTube and other services
The embedded YouTube player is loaded only after you choose “Watch here”, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain. Loading the player sends connection information to YouTube, and playing a video can involve its own cookies or storage. These are governed by Google’s cookie information. Your PostHog choice does not automatically give consent for third-party advertising.
Cloudflare delivers and protects the website. Any necessary security storage depends on the protections applied to a request. Following a link to a listening platform or social profile takes you to that service, whose own policies apply.
Browser controls and contact
You can also clear or block storage using browser settings. Clearing this site’s choice makes the banner appear again. Blocking storage can mean your choice lasts only for the current visit. Withdrawing consent stops future collection and does not automatically delete data already received by PostHog.
